Types of variables
- [Instructor] There are two types of variables available in Captivate: user defined and system. User defined variables are created by the Captivate author. You can create a variable to capture the name of the learner and display it on the course slides or certificate. You can also create variables to determine if a button was clicked, a slide visited or a question answered which can further be used in the actions and advanced actions for custom branching or interactivity. System variables are the precreated variables available for you to use in Captivate. Some of these variables are read only and can only be used to display content. And the others allow you to change or control their value. Let's take a look at the different categories of system variables available in Captivate. The first category is the movie control variables. These variables can be used to direct the course such as go to a particular slide, show or hide closed captions, enable playbar, lock table of contents, etc.…
