- [Instructor] Let's take a look at how we create these different layers. We'll start with the sky gradient mask, right there. Now the easiest way to do it is you just come over to the plus sign and you just click on the plus and that'll give you a new layer. However, if you hold it down, you get a pop-up menu and you can choose the type of layer that you want. Generally speaking for what we're going to be doing with gradient mask and so forth, you want a new empty adjustment layer. So we'll create that right there. Now I go to my tool right here, and I just drag down. So I have this type of selection. I'm going to hit the M key and you can see the area that will be affected by my adjustments. And then any adjustments that I make such as lowering the exposure will only be effected in that area, all right? So that is adjustment layer for a gradient screen. Now I'm going to go ahead and hit minus. That white spot up in the heel that was driving me crazy, that is a heel layer. That's…
