The new Dehaze slider

- [Instructor] The dehaze slider has been added to Capture One Pro, And I'm really happy that it's here because on landscape shots like this, it is really helpful. And this is a good example of where dehaze can assist us. We have this vibrant mustard in the foreground, it's really beautiful. And this is in Sonoma County, and in February and March, we get this and it's just fantastic, on weekends you go out and take pictures of it and just revel in how beautiful it is. But the hills are a little hazy, atmospheric conditions there, and this will help us. And let me just show you this, just do a little bit here. We'll just do a little dehazing, and you can see how those Hills begin to improve a bit. There they go. Now let's do a before and after, so you can see. So there they were, and here they are now. Now that's using auto mode. I'm going to go ahead and reset this and we can reset just the dehaze slider by clicking that little button right there. See that little icon, that's the reset for dehaze. And I'm going to manually choose the shadow tone and the way that you do this, we're on auto for that so you go down to manual and you have this little picker right here and you go to a hazy shadow area. (chuckles) That's the way that they put it, so we'll go right here. So this is a hazy shadow area, and I'm just going to click on that. All right, now let's do dehaze again. You see we get a bit of an improvement, a little bit more drama there in our dehazing, and that's just by telling the application the shadowy hazy areas that we want improved. Let's do our before and after again. There we are before and here we are after. All righty. Very nice. Now I'm going to go ahead and reset this because this is in the middle, right? Our starting point's in the middle. So we could add haze too, if we wanted. No, that is really not appealing at all but there may be situations where adding haze really helps. I dunno, if you're trying to tell a story about bad air quality or something like that, but generally speaking, we're going to be using dehaze. I'm going to go ahead and reset this again, one more time. Let's pick our dark shadowy area right there and let's not be too heavy handed, just a little bit. Just kind of clean that up a little bit. Just sort of improve those hills. We'll go, let's say, about 50 right there. Here's our before and after. That's a nice improvement and you don't have to do any masking or anything like that. So that's a look at the new dehaze slider and I'm really happy to have it.
