Configuring GRUB
- [Narrator] Let's talk more about booting. And with respect to booting, let's talk about configuring the bootloader GRUB. So why do we want to know about configuring GRUB? Well, it turned out some features or configuration choices for Linux can only be configured at boot time. You got to tell the kernel at boot time that you wanted to do something different. If we want to change these configuration options at boot time, the bootloader is the one that's got to do it because the bootloader is what's going to pass these options to Linux when it boots it. And if we want to get GRUB to do it, then we have to reconfigure GRUB. So GRUB knows what it is we want it to do. So let's talk more about GRUB Configuration. So we're going to talk about what used to be called GRUB two. It's actually quite a bit different than the old GRUB, GRUB one. But GRUB two is just called grub these days.
