- [Instructor] The ESCO blueprint tells us that we need to be able to describe some different network security solutions that offer IPS and firewall capabilities. So we want to take a survey of some of the most common Cisco devices used for that here. In general this category of security products is referred to as next generation devices. One of the most common solutions for this is the Cisco ASA family of devices. ASA meaning Adaptive Security Appliance. ASA firewalls have been around for quite some time. And this is really the flagship firewall of the Cisco world. We see these commonly used as a traditional layer 3 firewall and as a way to terminate site to site VPN tunnels, as well as remote access VPN functionality. With the ASA 5500-X models, Cisco introduced the FirePOWER module in 2013. And of course, Cisco FirePOWER is also available in many other higher end Cisco firewall models that would be more suited for something like a service provider or a data center. And also in…
