WebAuth

- [Instructor] Web Authentication, or WebAuth for short, is another alternative to 802.1x authentication. Similar to MAC authentication bypass, WebAuth can be used for clients attempting to connect to the network which do not have 802.1x supplicant software installed. This can be used as a fallback method for .1x authentication, especially for guests users or outside parties such as contractors. We can also use that as a primary method for things like guest wireless networks. If you have 802.1x, WebAuth, and MAB enabled on your network, so in other words, if you have two fallback methods to 802.1x, you want to be aware that after 802.1x authentication times out, the initial method will be MAB. Then WebAuth authentication would be attempted. The WebAuth portal will request a simple username and password combination, which would be forwarded to the RADIUS server in a standard RADIUS access request packet, in a very similar way to how MAB functions.
