- [Voiceover] Data loss prevention is ensuring that there is no data exfiltration, which is data that leaves the organization without authorization. A network specialist must be aware of the many vectors of data exfiltration and ways to prevent data loss. Whether data is at rest or in motion over the network, there are many vectors or methods whereby data can leave the organization. Vectors can include storage devices, email, missing or improper access controls, cloud storage, and malware. Data loss can occur either by accident, or as a result of a cyberattack. Storage devices include flash drives, external drives, and memory sticks for phones and cameras. The small devices are easily lost or stolen. And many times they don't have any type of password protection or encryption. Email and email attachments both contain sensitive information like customer and personal data along with business information.
