- [Nigel] Hi, I'm Nigel French, welcome to Type Tips. If you're an InDesign user, you have experienced this frustration, you have text in a frame, you increase the size of the text, the text becomes too big for the frame, you now have overset text as indicated by the red plus. Hands down here in your Preflight area, you have an error, so you need to resize the frame. But you're still experimenting with your type sizes. So it may feel like you're constantly chasing your tail, having to resize your frames as you as go along. So there's an easier way, using auto-size frames. Now auto-size frames don't really work that well for or are not really necessary for threaded text. But for certain types of independent text frames, they can be incredibly time saving, such as a headline where the headline is independent from the rest of the story.
