- Welcome to Type Tips. I'm Nigel French. This week, I'm in Illustrator. And I'd like to show you some experiments with Live Transform and Threaded Area Type. This is the effect that I ended up with. And you may think, well, could you not have achieved this using type on a path, just putting type around a circle? And actually I couldn't because the letters are overlapping. And where they overlap, we see transparency blending effects. So here's how I did it. I'm starting off with a single letter. In this case, I want to use a whole alphabet of 26 letters, and I'm deliberately starting with the widest of those. Now, I want to rotate this letter. And as I rotate it, I want to build up transparency effects. So to the letter itself, I'm applying the multiplied blend mode. And because I want to rotate this letter around a center point, I have grouped with it an invisible rectangle. So with these two elements of the…
