- [Nigel] Welcome to Type Tips. I'm Nigel French. I have discussed variable fonts before in the Type Tip series and if you want to revisit that episode, here it is. But I wanted to update that information because there have been some changes since. The biggest of which is that we can now use variable type in InDesign. Variable type faces are identified by this badge. And if I come and just filter my view to the favorites, we can see Acumen Variable Concept is what I'm using. There is the badge identifying it as such. And a variable font allows you to generate multiple instances from a single font outline. (mouse clicking) In the case of Acumen, and I'm going to come and click on my variable font widget right there. We will also find this on the character panel.
