Maps in Illustrator and Photoshop

- [Instructor] In terms of working inside of the interface for the Maps for Creative Cloud, or M4CC for short, extension, there's no difference between Photoshop and Illustrator. You can still build layers, you can get content from many places and compile your map inside this window, and then sync it to the desktop product. But as more people make maps in Illustrator than in Photoshop, it's quite understandable that actually the level of detail that you're bringing in here in terms of editability is pretty granular. So you can see inside of this file, I can get to all of these different objects. Whereas in Photoshop, in a slightly similar example here, with only a couple of layers, there's a raster background just there, and then some points of interest. Actually, the capital city's here on top. That the end result when synchronized to the desktop actually comes in as one single layer there, with only the text and the copyright logo on top. So it's not quite the same experience as it would be. In fact, this one was exported without the detail layers on top. But there you are. It would be flat in Photoshop, but fully rich and expandable in Illustrator. And that's why we'll be working through this course using Illustrator. Of course, if you're a Photoshop user, don't be dissuaded from that. You can still work along with everything we're doing here. It's just the synchronization that changes the game as far as you're concerned.
