Vertical justification in Illustrator

- [Nigel] Hi, I'm Nigel French. Welcome to Type Tips. Vertical justification in a text frame is something that's been available in Adobe InDesign since the dawn of time. But it's new in Adobe Illustrator. So here is one possible usage scenario. I want to add some text to this image to create a logo treatment. I'm going to start out by drawing myself a rectangle. In fact, a square centered on the image. I'll hold down option or alt and the shift key to do this. Then I will come and choose my area type tool. And rather than as you might expect, click inside the frame, I will click on the path. Now because I have my preferences set to fill type objects with placeholder text, this is what I get. Before I go ahead and replace this, let's just take a look at the area type options. We can also access these under the type menu.
