Latency issues

- There is an issue that every Cubase user runs into once recording commences. The issue is, there will be a finite amount of time for any recorded signal sent into Cubase, be that from a microphone, a guitar, or even a midi keyboard. There will be a finite amount of time for the signal to get through your audio interface, into your operating system, then sent into Cubase and made audible to us, so we can hear what we're playing before making the sonic return trip out of the software, again to your sound card or audio interface. Obviously there will be a finite amount of time for the signal to do this in and out journey. The finite amount of time is known as latency. And the longer it takes, the more problematic it becomes. This is because a delay of any length tends to disorientate the player and throw out the timing of the performance. Very low latency times, of around 10 milliseconds or less are imperceptible enough to not cause an issue. But longer latency times cause problems…
