Sibilance issues
- [Instructor] Whilst we were listening to the narration track in the last couple of movies, you can't have failed to notice the loud sibilant bursts of sonic energy when the speaker used words with 'S' and soft 'C' sounds in them. This source of loud sibilance is often exacerbated by certain types of microphone. As a consequence, to tame those short, but loud sibilant points, we need some methods of attenuating them whilst keeping the remaining audio unaffected. And that's what we're going to look at here and in the following tutorial. There are plugins available that specifically address the issue of loud sibilant spikes. The plugins are known as DeEssers. Beware though that, some DeEssers are better than others. I say that because some DeEssers negatively affect the overall frequencies of the audio whilst reducing the sibilant parts.
