- Hi, I'm Garrick Chow, author of of numerous audio and technology titles, and I'm also a studio and touring musician. We've created this course to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to audio. Whether you want to record your own music, add sound to video or a presentation, record a voiceover, score a film, record a band, or edit, mix, and restore audio, this course will help you get started. I'll begin by discussing the various roles in audio and music production, as well as the basic gear and software needed for recording and mixing. From there, we'll cover many of the basic concepts that anyone interested in working with audio needs to understand. I'll explain the basic path that all audio follows from the source to your computer, and back out to your headphones and monitors. Next, we'll take a look at some alternative ways to capture audio for those times when you might not be able to record directly into your computer. Then, I'll provide an overview of the most popular digital audio workstation software available today, and offer suggestions to help you choose the right one for your work. And, we'll also take a look at the options that are common across all audio software when it comes time to export your projects and share them with the world. Again, this is going to be a very basic overview of several topics, but throughout this course, we'll be offering suggestions of other courses you can watch to view more in-depth and detailed coverage of the topics I'm discussing.
