- Jim, you mentioned a type of light that can go right on the camera. These lights are all really designed for that. They have a hot shoe. And so, if you have the accessory port or the hot shoe which is often really common on cameras you can attach that. Now what's some of the benefits as well as drawbacks of having the light right over the lens? - [Jim] Well the benefit is, as I said before, if you're working alone and you're moving around a lot or moving quickly, there really isn't an option to set something on a stand and have it be in just the right place for very long. So having it on the camera, which you are holding, is really the only choice. - [Richard] You get a very harsh direction, you know, I'm shooting right into your face and I'm shooting this into your eyes. It can cause some bad reflections or really not be as flattering necessarily as getting the light a bit off to the side, right? - [Jim] Right, so there's two approaches you can take to this.
