- Alright, as you saw in this week's episode as well as the first part, where we took a look at wide angle lenses, this is a great addition to your tool kit. Now this shouldn't be the second lens you buy or even the third lens you buy. But it's probably the fourth or fifth. That ability to see a wide master shot without having to do a pan is great. If you're shooting action, you're shooting outdoors, you really want a good establishing shot, this is a necessary addition to your kit. - Mitch, I can't agree with you more. Wide angle lenses are great but they have no specific purpose. If you're looking for a general all-purpose lens, a wide angle seven or 12 or 14 millimeter lens, it's probably not the best choice. Wide angle lenses have specific uses. And when you combine the fact that wide angle lenses can be prone to barrel distortion and other geometric oddities, you have to be aware of that.
