From the course: Video Gear: Audio

Welcome

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robbie Carman. - And welcome to Video Gear: Improving Audio. Film and video are not just visual mediums. Audio is just as important. To capture the best audio, you often need to have great audio recording equipment and the knowledge on how to use it. - Yeah, I agree, Rich. Audio helps ground visuals. For example, if you turn off the sound on a horror film, the movie's just not as scary, but turn it back on and you're sucked right back into the movie. Uh, I'm sorry Rich, I lost you. - Oh, I'm sorry. When your audio quality suffers, it will actually distract the viewer and take you away from your story. - [Robbie] Now, we created this course to not only help you figure out what audio equipment is best for you, but to demonstrate best practices when using it. - [Rich] We're going to walk you through what to do if your camera doesn't record clean audio. - [Robbie] We'll also dive deep into the world of wireless microphones and how to master using them, as well as options for recording audio externally. - [Rich] And we have a guest, Cheryl Ottenritter, to give us the audio engineer's point of view on using audio equipment. - [Robbie] Sounds good. So let's jump in and see how to record quality audio.
