From the course: Video Gear: Lighting

Welcome

- Hi, my name's Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robbie Carman. - Welcome to Video Gear: Lighting for Video. - Rich it seems like there are a lot of different types of lights available for you to use during a production. To get the most out of your lighting set-up you need to know what lights help you get the look and feel you want from your footage. - [Rich] From Tungsten, to Florescent, to multiple types of LED lights that let you control both the RGB color and the color temperature you'll find a wide range of lights out there for any situation. These come in varying sizes from huge light banks to smaller form factors that are comparable to about a GoPro. - [Robbie] We created this course to give you a leg up when you're building out your lighting kit. We'll take a look at different types of lights as well as explore how to use them. - [Rob] There's even a small light that can you submerge in water. We'll also talk about how to light things like a textured backdrop or how to create a pure white backdrop. - [Robbie] We'll also have a guest, Director of Photography Jim Ball, and he'll give us practical examples of how he's used different lights on his own projects. - [Rich] So let's take a look at all of these different lights and understand how to use them during a production.
