- [Instructor] In this section on educational evaluation, we're going to be changing the perspective. That is, up to this point, we've talked about assessing the learning of individual students and the way that data science can help with that. Evaluation, or the evaluation of the effectiveness of education programs, is sort of the other side of the coin. In this case, the students are no longer the outcome, but they're data points in a much larger focus. And while data science can still be tremendously useful for educational evaluation, it takes a different form and responds to different issues, so let's talk about that change of focus. What's going on here is that individual assessment, that is, when you're looking at a student and you're trying to figure out about their learning, that's primarily descriptive.
