- [Instructor] Online education's a wonderful thing, but there's the question about making online work, how can you make it productive? Well, people love online education. I mean, it's flexible, it's accessible, it's great, but people who sign up for online courses often have a hard time feeling engaged and have a very high probability of dropping out of a course or falling asleep on their computer. This is true for online university courses where people pay tuition, they have a strict schedule, and they're getting a grade, but it's even more of a challenge for non-credit bearing online learning. But as I've mentioned before, people who teach online can learn a lot from people in online commerce and social media. In that world, millions of dollars and millions of hours have been spent on how to get people engaged and how to get them to progress. And data science has played a huge role in their success.
