- [Instructor] Have you ever bought something that looked fabulous online but once you had it in your hands you realized it wasn't at all what you were hoping for? Well, if you buy some shoes that don't fit or a cellphone charger that doesn't work properly, it's a pretty simple matter to send it back and get something else. After all, you're the customer and the customer is always right. But, when it comes to changes made or programs implemented by your local, state, or national government you can't just send it back if you don't like it, and it's not so easy to up and move somewhere else. That's one reason why government should take the needs of their constituents to heart and make sure that they are in fact working to serve their interests. It's an optimistic generalization, and we all know that the reality frequently doesn't match that ideal, but I think we all agree that that is the ideal.
