- Another terrific project we had the pleasure of working on was the redesign of Newsweek Magazine. We started as outside consultants, and were hired to reconceive and redesign the presentation of the magazine. We did that, and created a few sample issues that were only seen internally and by focus groups, which I hate, but, again, that's for another course. Then we went on to implement the design in-house, where I served as the creative director with an incredible team of designers and photo editors, implementing our new format each and every week. But let's go back to the beginning. The very, very first thing we did was review the current state of the magazine. And we worked with five or six Newsweek people to assess the goals of the magazine and the company. They included modernization, a reduction in clutter, and overall simplification, a better sense of clarity in the presentation of information. And a better use of photojournalism.
