So, in our next demo, I'm going to show how you can introduce tonal paper to use exactly the same principles, but just add another layer of tone. So, here we'll have the tone of the toner paper, the dark of the pen, and the white introduced by using a chalk. This is a painting by John Singer Sargeant based on but instead of using a white paper, you can use a tonal paper. What this just helps it do is gives you a greater sense of the scene that you're looking at. So when I hold this piece of paper against that background tone, it's quite close to it, could be a little bit pinker. But just to give you the idea of how it can be used, is a pretty good match. This is a Strathmore artist paper, this is a charcoal sheet, and this particular color is called peach blue. So again, just to get that first judgment. So once I've got the highest point of the figure within the drawing, I can start to judge the other elements in relation to that. So now I'm just using the wider pen in a underhand…
