A sketch with a painting in mind

- So for the next sketching day I was going out on, I knew that I wanted to look for a scene that I could transfer into a painting. So I was looking for a focal point, and some nice darks and lights. But I was also aware of the strong colors that were in the scene, knowing that I'll be able to introduce color back in the studio, to bring the painting together. So I now want to show you the sketch that I did on location, and then how I brought it all together back in the studio for a wide panorama. (light guitar music) Famed for it's dramatic rock formations and beautiful beaches, I had to go to Staffin Bay, on the north-east coast of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. It's a really quiet and sheltered bay, but has these great rocks on the right-hand side, which really help to frame the view, and send your eye into the scene.
