Heavy body vs. fluid body

- So before we start our first acrylic painting, I want to go through the real basics of how to dilute acrylics just using water. Water's going to be the most common thing that we're going to use throughout these lessons to dilute your paints, but I also want to introduce you to the exciting world of mediums. Mediums can be added into your paint to change their viscosity and their texture, and they can be really exciting, some of the effects that you can achieve just using mediums. But first, let's just have a quick look at the different viscosities available with acrylics. Heavy Body, which is the most common, Fluid, and High Flow. The most common is a Heavy Body paint, and this usually comes in tubes, but this is just in a pot, which is just a larger size, just to show you. And you'll see when you look inside that the actual texture of it is really stiff. It moves around, you need a palette knife to push it around really, but it holds its peak, and its got really a stiffer…
