- So what have we learned? For me, I have the overwhelming sense that we've seen only the tip of a very big iceberg. I mean, cropping is so basic, meaning it's foundational, it's something we do on every job and the possibilities and permutations are endless. That said, here, I think, are the key takeaways. See with your eyes as well as your mind. Centered and predictable or edgy and exciting? Look for the descriptive slice. Crop radically. It's easier than you think. People are almost impossible to mess up. And watch for the story. We've looked at some creative ways that cropping can be a design tool, and we've discussed what cropping can do for you, whether it's to tell a story, eliminate distractions, or add energy to your designs.
