2020 color of the year: Classic Blue

- [Instructor] You probably already know what the 2020 Pantone Color of the Year is. Just in case, let me give you a hint. It's Classic Blue. In the middle of our current world affairs, blue feels like the hopeful hue we need. It grounds us with trust and faith and while many corporate brands use blue to instill trust and reliability, Classic Blue stands for so much more. As we start the new decade amid the social noise, we seek dependability, a sense of peace, and the boundless possibilities connected to the sea and sky. This hue encourages us to see beyond the horizon. It's inspired by the colors we see at dusk. Physiologically, our bodies will feel awake and energized by the blue light, mainly during the sunrise. And the warm hues from the sunset produce melatonin in our bodies, which help us relax and promote rest. Pantone's Classic Blue is a peaceful color. It's dependable. It's thought-provoking. Remember how we connect to the sky and ocean? It really makes us think beyond the horizon. It's also sustainable. And it's not just our connection to nature, but it's also a hue that is more sustainable to produce. It's holistic and it's also universal. It's genderless, resilient. It's classic, yet contemporary, and it's approachable. Color has so much influence from the brands we buy to our cultural heritage, social trends, and even personal taste. Classic Blue is sending us a message deeper than our own interests. It's encouraging us to find a common ground between our differences in hopes to create fewer bridges between ourselves.
