Art movements and color culture

- Throughout history, art has shaped and inspired past, present, and even future generations. We've seen how artists use color to create an entire experience from a canvas to a gallery to an entirely virtual space. Most of us see art as a personal expression, but some art movements go beyond that and end up creating and driving culture surrounding them. There are two specific art movements that represent this close connection between art and color culture. Number one is pop art, which emerged from the UK and later in the US, stemming from a need to break away from the dominant views of art at that time. Richard Hamilton, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, and of course, Andy Warhol, were among the known pioneers of pop art. Pop art uses bright burst of color to bring more mundane things to life, from products, packages, and ads to magazines.
