- When I decided to start my own firm over 20 years ago, I never imagined I'd have to spend so much time learning how to manage expectations, work on so many processes and have so many hard conversations with clients and employees. But that is just the reality of being in business. And you can either choose to fight it or embrace it. I have found it's often the more challenging parts of what we do that the greatest growth happens. When a project doesn't finish well, it's never 100% one group's fault, although it may feel like it. It's important to have a process in place when you get to the end of projects that end poorly. You want to be able to look at the facts and separate yourself from any emotion that may tend to creep in.
