Automating character styles
- [Instructor] So to continue with the formatting of our book, thus far we've been concentrating on paragraph styles, the big picture, the global formatting. Now we're going to get a bit more local. There are numerous instances throughout the text where emphasis is given in uppercase, and we want to change the uppercase to italic, and we want to automate this as much as possible. Now unfortunately we are not going to be able to fully automate this, but let's first of all, start with the low hanging fruit that we will be able to automate, there are more than 50 instances of this word the ship name Hispaniola. So I'm going to first of all make my character style, let's just make sure I have nothing selected, so I don't pick up any formats. Character style, new character style, and I'll call it italic. Basic character formats, change the font style to italic. Now I'll select this text, and I will copy it, come to my Find/Change, where I will paste it into the find what field. Then in the…
