- [Nigel] Welcome to "Type Tips." I'm Nigel French. This week, a quick tip about how to avoid confusion and frustration when copying text from one InDesign document to another. You've probably had this happen at some point. You select text, you copy it, you move to the destination document, you paste it, and its appearance changes. Now, if you're doing this on a tight deadline, this could cause some panic and some confusion. Here's how we avoid that. Firstly, the problem occurs because we're using the same style names in both documents, but, I don't know about you, but I like to use the same style names, that way I know exactly what the style is referring to. One way out of this problem is just to make sure that the style names are in some way different.
