- [Nigel] Hi, I'm Nigel French, welcome to "Type Tips." In this episode, I'm going to talk about some different strategies for presenting dummy text in a layout mockup. In a previous episode I spoke about placeholder text, how you can modify it, as well as how you can use the lipsum.com website to generate a specified number of words or paragraphs of lorem ipsum, the classic dummy text. But sometimes using lorem ipsum can confuse clients who can't grasp the concept of faux Latin placeholder content and get distracted trying to read it. Sometimes you might want to make the layout more abstract representing the type as lines known as Greeked text. A temporary way to achieve this is to come to your Preferences and to Display Performance and increase this threshold number in the Greek Type Below field. If I increase this to 30 then we see that the layout is now represented as lines. However, this is just a display preference…
