Bring back boredom
- So here's what I think. I think that people don't allow themselves to be bored anymore. People are often distracted by technology or with their super busy lives. And I say, bring back boredom because boredom gives the brain a chance to rest. Boredom creates kind of a gap of sweet nothingness, and in that gap is where creativity can arise. It can very uncomfortable. I think that people avoid boredom, and they avoid connecting with that feeling. But I guarantee you, if you find situations where you can just allow nothing to happen, it can really intensify your connection to your creative power. One of my favorite things that I used to do with my daughter when she was little, in the summertime, is we have this big, blacktop driveway. And, of course, sidewalk chalk is really fun for kids. And what we would do is we would notice the shadow of the neighbor's house being cast on the driveway, and we would trace the entire shadow of the rooftop across the driveway. And then we'd wait for…
