- Sometimes I get into a project and I'm in so deep that I lose sight of what to accept and what to reject. I forget to take a step back and be objective. After hours of working on something, sometimes you realize that it would've been better in a simpler, earlier state. Knowing when to stop is so hard. After all that work and focus, we might be asked to revise the project and make it more to the point, whether it's written, drawn, or played. In image making, I like to practice this by editing in a tactile way. When I read the newspaper in the morning or look through a favorite magazine, I'll find an image to work with. I like to use someone else's image because it isn't precious to me. First, I identify my favorite part of the picture, the star of the show. I won't touch this area.
