Choosing a page size

- [Narrator] One of the first design decisions we get to make is the size of the page. In reality, this may be predetermined by your publisher or by your client, but in this scenario, we get to choose. Now I'm going to use an octavo size page, 6 inches by 9 inches. This obviously gives me a larger page size than other standard sizes. It has a pleasing 1 to 1.5 aspect ratio and it feels right for the kind of premium collector's edition book that we are creating. So from the file menu I'll choose new document, command or control N. I'll specify my page size in inches, although throughout this project I will be moving back and forth between different measurement systems. So, 6 inches by 9 inches, orientation of tall. We don't need to determine the number of pages right now, and in fact, when we turn on primary text frame, when we place our text file into the primary text frame, as many pages as are necessary to accommodate the text, will be created.
