- [Instructor] Welcome to Type Tips. I'm Nigel French and in this episode, I am in Illustrator. And I'm going to be illustrating a song lyric. I've chosen a lyric from an Elvis Costello song called "Shipbuilding" which is a favorite of mine. Elvis Costello is a hero of mine. Choose whatever works for you. This is the end result and this is achieved by using the Live Paint tool. So the Live Paint tool will allow us to fill in the negative spaces between the letters. Now for that reason, I've chosen a very simple and very solid sans-serif typeface. It's called English Grotesque Bold. It is available on Adobe Fonts. Because I want the negative spaces between the letters to be relatively simple, the Live Paint Bucket which is this tool right here will allow us to apply color to the enclosed areas, but we first of all, will need to enclose them.
