Discovery refinement phases within agile
- Okay, so far we've been focusing on testing. Now let's consider the refinement phase. The refinement phase within design thinking is a powerful tool to revisit and reassess your ideas. How might we use refinement alongside agile delivery? First, let's establish how I'm defining agile. Agile delivery is an iterative approach to software where teams build software incrementally at the beginning of a project rather than shipping it all at once upon completion. There are broad interpretations of agile, but what's most important here is it's a common method today used to deliver digital experiences. That sure sounds quite different than the goal of refinement though. After all, refinement is about invalidating ideas and avoiding putting those wrong solutions into the experience. Let's look for their similarities for a moment and see what we find. Refinement seeks to revisit and reassess your ideas using an iterative process.…
