- [Narrator] Duluth Trading Company is unusual in that it arrives horizontally, maybe to fit a horizontal mailbox but, opens vertically. And, the open spread is a square. It's a fun catalog. This is the holiday issue and, there are a few techniques worth looking at, starting here. (turning page) Technically, there's a background here but, it's so light it looks like a knock-out. Winter coat in silhouette, opposite those Ikea rectangles, big, focal point, centered in the spread like a target, easy to see. Cap, scarf, mittens built into the photo. They're not separate. Tiny detail, you can see it overlaps the type but, it adds a sense of depth. Duluth does a lot with it's type, more than most catalogs and, it's fun. Wrap yourself right in, in a basebally script. In contrast to Duluth, in tall block letters, below which is outerwear in wide block letters in a serif style and, two red underlines. Text curves around the arm and, here are the same type faces in varying heights and widths…
