Equity-centered design

- In the short amount of time we have together, my hope is that you become interested enough in the topics presented here to seek out the people doing the real work. The Equity Design Collaborative is an inspiring group of designers focused on disrupting structural racism. These efforts include Design Meets Equity, which embodies an intentional remix of equity work and design thinking. Their Equity by Design process works with three core beliefs, see, be seen, and foresee. First we must see and understand the historical context of power relations in society. Second, we must insist on the right for everyone in society to be seen and acknowledged as individuals possessing human dignity. And third, we must realize that equity is not just a destination but the very means by which we seek that destination.
