- While having the initial spark of an idea is always exciting, the next step is the really fun part, drinking up and gathering as much information as we can on the subject. The trick is to make sure our brains are in the proper place to really soak up as much as we possibly can, so that we can create the mental environment for incubating great ideas. What we have to watch for is our brains tendency to go on autopilot. In order to manage the vast amounts of information that we experience at every moment, our brains have set up cognitive filters in order to dismiss what it perceives as unnecessary and to take in what it perceives as important information.
