- How would you define the creative process? You might say that the creative process is the art of generating ideas. Or maybe you would define it as the path to solve a problem. Or maybe you would say it's how a concept is invented. What makes the creative process so powerful is that it's all of these things. We use parts of the creative process every time we come up with an idea or research solutions for a problem or choose a direction. But we could be using the entire creative process to make those ideas, solutions and directions stronger. In this course, we're going to break down the creative process into five steps, each one feeding off of the results from the one before. The steps are all illustrated in the Five-Step Creative Process Guide that's available as a PDF in the exercise files. The guide shows you the process at a glance and then breaks down the process step by step so you can apply it to the problems you wish to solve. We'll even show what the process looks like in a real-world project, designing a website. Once you understand the process, you'll be able to see that creative problem solving is just five steps away.
