- In this movie we'll look at how to apply kerning and tracking to text in Affinity Publisher. As a reminder, kerning is letter spacing that you adjust between two characters. And tracking is letter spacing that you adjust in a range of selected text. The settings for both kerning and tracking are found in the character panel under positioning and transform. Now, let's start with kerning. I'll zoom in on the title "Our Products & Services," and put my cursor between the r and the v in services. The first value here in the panel is kerning, and it's measured in thousandths of an M space. And it's currently set to negative 18 and the value has parentheses around it. That means it's the default value that comes from the font that I'm using. I can override that by choosing a different value from the pop-up.
