- I'm always encouraging people to be in the moment. Emphasize the process of making. I tell them, don't be so caught up in the preconceived perfection of what you want the product to be. I know from daily experience in the studio that this is easier said than done, especially when we're working within the deadline of a commission or a new project at work. I know I'm not the only one who puts pressure on herself to achieve, but how do we release the pressure of perfection? Can we really respond to what life throws our way moment to moment? If we practice this, maybe a new flexibility will develop. (gentle music) Trying to draw the gesture of a figure in motion is a perfect way to be forced to work on the spot.
