Lost in the noise
- What I've been describing so far in this series seems like a pretty simple thing really, listen to your lowest level spontaneous impulses. Say yes to them. Nurture and develop them. So why is that so hard? One reason is that those impulses can be very faint. The best example that I can give of that is a photographic one. Sometimes when I'm out running errands, walkin' down the street with a purpose, something out of the corner of my eye will catch my attention. Now here's a little tip for you. Photographers don't go out into the world looking for photographs. Because nothing in the world looks like a photograph. The world doesn't have a frame around it. It's three dimensional. It has more color and range of tone than what our cameras can capture. So if you go out looking for a photograph, you won't ever see anything to shoot because there aren't any photographs out there. Instead photographers go out looking for anything that's remotely visually interesting. From that interest, they…
