Numbers in circles
- [Nigel] Hi, welcome to Type Tips. I'm Nigel French. This week, I'd like to talk about circled numbers. I'm going to show you three ways in which you can access circled numbers, beginning with the least satisfying of them. That is, to use a Dingbat font like Wingdings or Zapf Dingbats. The problem here is that accessing these specific characters is not that intuitive. For example, if I want to access a one, two, and three, in Zapf Dingbats if I type one, two, three that's not what I get at all. You would need to use the Glyphs panel in order to access the numbers that you want. In the case of Zapf Dingbats, I can filter my view to see just the numbers. These are my choices. I can enter them like this, from the Glyphs panel. That means that they are not suitable for using in a numbered list, an auto-numbered list. Which brings me on to the second approach.
