- Once I'm booked as a speaker, I like to ask more logistical questions, some of which may be obvious, but you'll be surprised what often gets overlooked by conference organizers. These questions include which talk have they selected and will it be a mainstage or breakout session? If a breakout session, how many expected attendees? How long and when is the talk scheduled? Because I'm a morning person and I also hate speaking directly after lunch, people usually have long lunches and miss the next talk after lunch, I often like to ask for a pre-lunch spot if at all possible. Is there a Q&A session? A moderator? Is there a speaker-only networking event, like a dinner or party at some point before or after the event? I prefer speaking at events where they value their speakers and organize more intimate speaker-only opportunities.
