- How do you design your pages? Well, it's totally context-sensitive. Your products, your copy, your pages will be different from everyone else's, and different from your own. Can be different from issue to issue and page to page and item to item, so there's no one way, and no best way. What I'll do is start you with a few basics that apply to all design. Then, we'll have fun looking at some live catalogs for detail and inspiration. In a catalog, photography is everything. It's impossible to overstate its importance. Your images, whether they're static like product shots or live like models, must be pretty, well-composed, well-lit, correctly exposed, vibrant, and compelling. This isn't a photography course. We have lots of those in our library, so I won't get into that part, but I can give you some pointers for working with your photos once you have them.
