- [Nigel] Hi I'm Nigel French, welcome to Type Tips. In this week's episode a quick tip about how to work with unequal columns in InDesign. Let's say that you want one large column for your running text and one narrow column on the outside of the page for your supporting information. When you choose two columns, as we have here, InDesign is going to give you two columns of equal width but it's very easy to change. I'm going to start a new document and have two columns. Then, because I want to use the same grid on all of my document pages I'm going to go to the master pages, and I say pages plural because we have two because this is a facing pages document. Facing pages is checked. So I would double click on the A master, on the Pages panel, or I can click command or control J and then just type the letter A to go to my A master page. Then I'll come to the layout menu and choose Create Guides. And I'm going to choose…
