- Are you looking to understand what your customers are doing or trying to do? Then behavioral design testing methods are for you. What our customers are doing can be measured in a variety of ways, and the following methods are most common. Time on task, task success rate, user error rate, and search versus navigation. Time on task, or TOT, measures how long it takes people to perform a certain task. This is used to establish a baseline that you can then work to improve. In this case, improvement often means to reduce the amount of time. Sometimes it's used to determine the length at which model users spend on a task. For example, let's say that users who use your app most often spend a certain range of time setting up their account and notification settings.
